Knowtify uses Android’s Notification Listener service to react
to alerts you choose to monitor. For each notification, the app reads
which app posted it, its category (for example, message, call, or
ongoing), and whether it is ongoing. For Uber and Lyft only, Knowtify
reads the notification title on your device to check for
“arriving” when you select those apps as triggers.
Notification processing happens on your device to trigger lighting.
Your notification contents are not sold and are
not uploaded to Knowtify or any service provider.
For Matter, LIFX, Govee, WiZ, and similar integrations, commands go
directly to your lights over your local Wi-Fi network. Knowtify does
not operate servers that receive or store App data.
Additional permissions are used only for specific features: location
or nearby Wi-Fi access to read your SSID for network
profiles (not physical tracking); Bluetooth during Matter device
commissioning; your installed app list on-device for the trigger
picker; optional Google Home sign-in and Home APIs if you connect that
integration; and optional Firebase crash reports that do not include
notification contents.
If you connect Google Home, Knowtify sends abstract lighting commands
(such as color and brightness) through Google’s services. These
commands do not include notification text.
For reliable background response, set battery optimization to
“Unrestricted” for Knowtify.
